This weekend was freaking HOT. Saturday was bearable - it was in the 80s but still had a breeze. I got up earlish and started some work on my front garden. I'm not a major gardener by any stretch of the imagination (I'm all about bulbs - iris, daffodils, lilies and the super easy day lily)- but when we bought this house, they had just 'professionally' landscaped it. Thing is - many of the shrubs grow so fast - they get completely out of control. And out come my electric hedge trimmers.
You may now call me Cece the Destroyer.
Seriously, I'm not that bad - but I did do some major hacking, which then involved major clean up. Which was fine for a few hours. Then we had to go pack it up and watch Aaron's team's last soccer game, and I wasn't in the mood to do anything more. So I woke up Sunday - and at 9 AM went to finish up. I made it about 30 minutes before I retreated into the house for AC. At which point I decided to do some knitting for this baby! It's super cute- and I will take a picture to show all later.
The rest of Sunday we went to the end of the season soccer pool party - in which I was the only woman to go in the pool with all the boys (9 - 11 year olds) and held my own in the super soaker battle (plus pushed Coach Aaron in the pool to the delight of all the kids).
Random pregnancy things:
- I can really no longer sleep on my belly. But sleeping on my side makes my shoulder fall asleep. So, along with getting up to pee every few hours, I'm also getting up to shift position. I guess this is training for when the baby comes?
- I'm starting to wake up at 2 in the morning, not for position change or to pee, but because I'm hungry. I've started bringing a peanut butter sandwich with me to bed.
- I have officially starting wearing my maternity pants - and they are AWESOME. I'm SO comfortable. I only have 2 pairs... so I guess I'm going to need to go shopping.
- You know that 'baby in a bubble' pregnancy ticker on the sidebar of my blog? You can click it to change the 'x day to go' to other options. It makes me feel better to see that I'm '14 weeks and 3 days' rather than '179 days to go'.

Time to bring in more pillows.
I wish we had 80's here, LOL! Try 3 digits and HOTTTTTTTT!!!
Its so exciting to see your pregnancy bubble, I am so HAPPY for you!
Now you REALLY have child bearing hips my friend!! xoxoxoxo
I've never been a belly sleeper, but it's been really hard for me to transition to sleeping solely on my left side again. I do switch it up every once in a while, but I try to stay on the left. Pillows behind the back and wedged under the belly do help a little.
The heat is really getting me down too!
It was a cold and gray weekend here, so admittedly I'm a little jealous of your warmer weather!
Maternity pants are my favorite things ever. Why can't we have elastic waist bands when we aren't pregnant for crying out loud???
I sleep half on my side with a pillow under my belly, which I think I started when pregnant. I knew I was getting huge when one of the cats started sleeping on my hip, using the belly as a pillow. You should try shifting position when your belly is in the way and a cat is digging her claws in trying to remain ensconced.
Oooh...cool. I didn't know you could change the countdown on that ticker! Nice. I'm dreaming of when I'll have my own ticker. :)
Saturday was definitely less terrible than Sunday, but we were definitely in the mid-90s Saturday too. I really need to introduce myself to the neighbors with a pool. It'll cool off at some point, right?
I'm also a stomach sleeper usually and have also had the numb arm problem. I've tried sleeping mostly on my stomach with one knee bent up to keep me from ending up completely on my stomach, which I find a decent compromise. I hope you get some better sleep soon!
Congrats on 14 weeks! I bought one of those memory foam mattress pads for my bed and it really helped the pain in my shoulders and hips. It seemed to take some of the pressure off! Watch out for a mom with a super soaker! lol NCLM
Do you know it took me forever to learn that I could save myself doing the maths of dividing by 7 and taking away from 40 to work out how pregnant that ticker meant with it's darn 'days to go'?
Turns out I could have been clicking all along...
J
YAY, to 14 weeks! It'll come... pretty quick, I hope..did you hear that Jessica Alba just gave birth? I thought it was only yesterday that she announced she was pregnant..time sure flies...i hope time flies for you too... :)
hugs.
My hip used to fall asleep when I was pregnant. How is that even possible?
I agree with the pillows, many, many pillows. I found sleeping about 3/4 of the way onto my stomach with a pillow under my leg (knee forward) to keep the weight off my tummy worked best for me... can't hurt to try.
14 weeks and 4 days now - did not know you could change the little thingie by clickin on it - kewl
Sounds like you had a good weekend, in spite of the heat. It has been 93-96 here for about a week now - UGH!
Girl, you should see me with the hedge trimmer. My hubby said I am a "take no prisoner kinda gardner". I dont want to have to trim more than twice a year - so I get low, low, low, low.
BWT - your not taking chocolate cake to bed - really? peanut butter sandwich and not chocolate cake. hmmm...
I didn't know that about the ticker! I'm going to go play with mine now! lol I agree, I like seeing how far along you are, now how far you have to go! I'm sure towards the end that will reverse though! lol
I didn't know you could click the ticker! How cool is that? Sorry about the discomfort, but I am sure you know it is all worth it! :-) Good for you on the gardening...I have a "brown" thumb. I kill everything plant-like that I touch.
I'm with zephra...pillows, pillows, and more pillows!
I loved my maternity wear! Bring on the loose shirts and pants. Woot!
Get that body pillow..it helps!!
Wishing you well from NCLM. Congrats on the pregnancy, glad you are starting to feel better.
I'm not much of a gardener, but hedge trimmers are by far my favorite tool. Hacking away at large, overgrown plants (er, I mean, PRUNING) is too fun. Gets out some aggression too!
