Total Lack of Motivation

First - thanks for all the good thoughts on Aaron's interview. It did go well - and he thinks he will be going back in for technical part of the process either end of this week or beginning of next week. From what he told me, the people he would be working with seem great - and looks like everyone there has children, so they are pretty family focused. One downside, is that he probably won't be able to work from home (he does that about 2 time a week now), but the commute is so much shorter - that's OK.

As for me? I have a total lack of motivation. I had so much trouble getting out of bed this morning! We were so busy at work the last few weeks, and things continue to pile up... I constantly find myself daydreaming of my vacation and then maternity leave! We have a re-org going on right now, and everyone is so up in arms about it... I have to admit, I just don't care! Just let me keep my job, and I'll be happy. That is SO not me.

I do have a bit more vacation that I could take... but I find myself wanting to hold tightly to it - maybe take a week off before my due date, or tag it onto the end of my maternity leave? But - now I'm thinking that maybe isn't the best idea, as I'm feeling rather burned out. I'll have to think on it for a while. Some of my problem I'm sure stems from the fact that I'm really having trouble sleeping. I just can't get comfortable and/or I always have to pee. If I flip over too quickly in the middle of the night, I get horrible pains in my side too! Maybe time to invest in a body pillow?

Definitely invest in a body pillow. I just love my snoogle. I use that and a pillow on my other side and I don't have to switch anything up when I roll over in the middle of the night.

Glad the interview went well and I'm with you on the lack of motivation. Maybe take a few 1/2 day fridays using your vacation time and schedule something fun for yourself, a mani maybe? Might help you get through the week without eating up too much of your time

Body pillow sounds good to me. Whatever you need to get a good night's sleep has got to be worth investing in.

I hope part two of the interview goes well.

I'm glad the interview went well! I am definitely with you on the motivation thing, and that is despite the fact that there are many deadlines to meet with my maternity leave looming in two months. I keep having to remind myself that maternity leave is not a vacation...it will include a helpless newborn who requires my constant attention after all. So by all means take a little time off now if you can afford it!

I will keep my fingers crossed for the rest of the interview process.

I haven't really been having an easy time getting up in the morning either.

Sorry about the sleep issues. I am useless when on little sleep. It is nice that you have the extra vacation time to take when you need it.

Fingers crossed for the rest of the interview.

I remember the uncomfortableness -- man it sucked. It's like magic as soon as the kid/s pop out -- poof you can sleep comfortably again -- then the problem is some tiny little being/s have other ideas. I bought a snoogle body pillow and a tempurpedic matress topper and in the end the only thing that worked for me was the air matress. It was hard to get on a off of it but once down I could adjust the air -- nice. Until I had to pee again anyway.
Sending good wishes to Aaron.. sam

I am so glad that the interview went well. My finger and toes are crossed for you. When I was preggo an ice cold glass of water with fresh mint or a peppermint in my mouth as I sipped it would always relax me. I would also feel so refreshed. It may have just been me but what the heck can't hurt right :0)

Good luck to hubs on the job interview. Good luck to you and the job burn out too. I have a feeling I will be joining you there very shortly.

I think you should totally invest in the pillow. Even if you don't think it helps now, you might think it is a God-send later. :)

Body pillow is the way to go!

Hi, over from ICLW,

Invest in a body pillow and save your time if you can. In the last two weeks of my pregnancy I cried buckets every morning before work. You may need the time then.

Rest....work comes secondary (or even lower) on the priority list. People always come first. :-)

Sounds like you are deserving of a mini break, chill out and catch up on some lost sleep! I LOVE my body pillow, I always turn to it when I can't sleep!

I'm glad Aaron's job interview went so well!

Everyone I know who's gotten a body pillow has absolutely loved it!

It seems to me that a regular pillow works pretty well to help me sleep better, if I put it along the front of me. Now that it's so hot, I've even rolled up my comforter and used it like a body pillow. No sense spending all that money (then again, I haven't tried a body pillow, so I'm not sure).

Body pillows are the world's best thing, and they definitely helped me sleep better.

I'm also feeling a lack of motivation, but for no other reason than being downright lazy.

Glad Aaron's interview went well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I finally went and got a pregnancy pillow - it's a Snoogle. It's long and narrow and curls up on each end. It has made ALL the difference in my sleeping. I'm currently away on business and didn't bring the snoogle with me and I am SO missing it.

I highly recommend it.

Sweet dreams...

Just FYI, most companies require you to exhaust all the sick/vacation time you have before going on disability (which maternity leave technically is), and, iirc, it counts as part of whatever leave time they give you, that is if you have a week's accrued vacation you still get only eight weeks' paid maternity leave, not nine, no "tacking on" allowed. The upside of this is that you'll get your full pay instead of 60 percent for the vacation time, but if you'd rather have the time than the money, take that vac now.

At least that's the way it was when I had my kids, and I think if anything most companies are a bit chintzier now.
