I survived my father's visit. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. He is so old now, and in such poor health - he really doesn't pull out the normal lectures (which involve his opinion on world affairs - which are racist, sexist and homophobic). He does tell the same stories over and over again (how proud I was of myself the first time I rolled over, what a 'joy' I was to raise.... blah blah blah). But - I will say - this was the first time I wanted to run away with Hulk to another room. My father wanted to hold him - and Hulk just really didn't like him. And my stepmother pretty much kept him awake the whole time. But I took a deep breath, and just let them have at it. I figure it was only for 2 days, and they live in North Carolina. And my stepmother was LOVING spending time with him.
Today, I was going to allow myself to do nothing except knit and let Hulk have downtime. But I got an email from a knitting friend that she was having people over to knit from 10:30 - 12, would I like to join them? I was like, sure! And I ended up staying there until 3:30. Hulk was much more fussy then usual, but I needed some 'friend time' to decompress. It was great. And he is now sleeping happily in the swing. And tomorrow we are expecting another ice storm, so we'll stay home and recharge tomorrow.
I also had a successful gym trip today! Hit the elliptical for 40 minutes, and then soaked in the hot tub. I feel great. I'm going to give that spin class another chance on Thursday morning - I just need to remember to sign up tomorrow morning.
Ok - off to bed.

I'm glad that you made it!
Glad you made it through that. It is always hard to have the parents there regardless of how easygoing they may or may not be.
