bullets

I've tried to write a post a bunch of times now, so I'm giving up and doing bullet points.

  • Aaron took Maggie back to the doc on Friday - her ear infection was WORSE. Another round of antibiotics. This is the 3rd round. But the good news is she is back to her Happy Baby Self as of Sunday
  • Also noticed that she got two molars in this week.
  • Does it make sense that she got molars but still doesn't have other teeth (like her eye teeth?)
  • Poor baby - throw up, fever, teething and double ear infections all at the same time!
  • She goes for her 15 month check up tomorrow morning - I need to make a list of questions - because she also isn't really talking yet either.
  • Got to see my brother and 3 of his kids this weekend! I rarely get to see this brother (he lives in Indiana) so it was fun.
  • Also got to see Aaron's Uncle - who hasn't been at the house since we bought it - he was blown away by all the work Aaron has done.
  • Suzanne visited on Sunday - she is one of Cam's top 5 people - so he was SO happy to get to play with her!
  • Monday we tried to relax and lay low - but did go and play a bit at the discovery museum, which is always fun.
  • Monday was also my first day of no caffeine, sugar or alcohol. It went pretty well, small headache by the end of the day and I did have a burrito for dinner and I think the tortilla counts as sugar. But hey, better than nothing!
  • And it's sad, but I'm somewhat happy to be back at work today. I've been home with a sick baby since Tuesday of last week (not counting Friday) and I need some peace!

Elizabeth didn't really talk at all until she was 17 months. She had a few words (mama, dada, baby, nana), but at 17 months, she learned to talk overnight. Sometimes now she chants "talking talking talking talking" when she doesn't have anything else to say.

Jillian didn't talk much until closer to two. At 18 months she could pick up some basic words pretty easily. When Hayden arrived she learned "baby" in a day or so.

On the teeth, it is unusual that the molars are arriving before the eye teeth but probably a wait and see situation. We had friends with a daughter Jillian's age who didn't get her top two teeth until after the teeth on either side of those grew in. It was a strange look!

Our girls are pretty similar. Elin is nearly 14 months (born 12/30) and isn't really talking either. She is also just now getting molars before eye teeth. Those teeth can be funny. A friend's baby, same age, has primary, secondary, eye teeth and molars on ONE SIDE. The other side has just the single primary. They call her snaggletooth and it is adorable.

Back to talking - my older girl had at least 20 words at 14 months, so this no talking is a change. But since Elin is so verbal and clearly 'thinks' she is talking to us and being a social butterfly, I'm not so worried.

I'm impressed with the elimination diet. I don't think I could do that!

"normal" (meaning usual, average, typical) for emergence of first word is somewhere in 12-18 mo. You're not there yet ;) Toby's first word wasn't until 25 mo or so - though he's quite the outlier in many ways.

Oy -- I hope the infection clears up.

I have to say, I am actually a big fan of the bullet point post. I'm not sure why. But I love all the small thoughts just dumped out.

Poor baby indeed! That's a lot to be going through at one time. How many ear infections has she had in the past?

Poor Maggie... hope she's doing better by now (i'm catching up today on blogs!). Ben has no pointy teeth and doesn't say a word. He says something I can't spell for everything. Uh, or ah, or whatever. It basically means take me that way because I want what is there. Kind of furstrating for all of us, since Natalie talked since she was born, or so it seems. I think she talked around 12-13 mos. Ben's 16 mos and hardly says a thing. I think he can say no. Suruprise!
