On a happier note...

Good things are finally happening! Aaron got to see the neurologist yesterday, and she gave him some more blood pressure medicine - but just for 15 days. She gave him some explanations for the pain is having, and lists of food and drinks to avoid. They don't think he has chronic high blood pressure, but it's a mixture of the pain and stress.

And since he's off all those ridiculous narcotics, we were able to talk last night. I got home, we cooked dinner together, and just talked about all the shit that is/has been happening... and it was like a weight was lifted. Aaron and I both acknowledge that we internalize things too much (he maybe more than I), and we'll work on it. Although for now, the focus is on getting his headache gone. It's still there, just not horrible anymore. It's so great to have my Aaron back.

In other good news, I got back to the gym yesterday. I'm back to doing the Couch to 5K podcast. The last time I stopped (right before the IVF cycle) I was on week 4 I think? I decided to start with week 1 again, and it felt great! I was nervous I was going to have shin splints or something, but it was fine. I spent maybe 25 minutes on the treadmill, and then more like an hour using the amenities - soaking in the hot tub, using the sauna, taking a nice hot shower - it felt great.

The final bit? I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and stocked up on 'good for us' food, and lots of it. My plan is to cook up a lot of brown rice and have frozen stuff available so that no matter what crap may come our way, I have good food for us to eat. I feel so much better when I eat well, but it's the first thing to go when our lives get hectic. So much easier to pick up take out than to have to hassle with grocery shopping, which I hate - and then cooking. I'm also probably going to sign up for Peapod...and in the spring do the CSA food share. That way, I can maybe avoid needing to go to the grocery store all together!

Woo Hoo on the happier place! It's always nice to have the hubby back when he's gone to another personality. Mr. W severed his fingers last year so I know exactly what it's like to try to live with a man in horrible pain on narcotics. Welcome back Aaron! Hope you stay for a good long while!

I'm with you on the healthier eating and exercise. Good luck to us all!

Glad you're in a better place and Aaron is starting to feel better.

And yeah for the exercising...I really need to get back into that groove.

We're planning on joining a CSA this spring too. I'll feel bad letting all those good fruits and veggies go to waste.

So glad you're feeling better, and that your hubby is getting some answers. I am going to have to look into that CSA thing...

I'm so glad things are going better for you... finally! You have had a rough several weeks.

I totally agree with you on the BP thing, I would have wanted them to take another look too! Glad he is feeling better.

So glad you guys had a good chat.

I totally KWYM about the eating well and getting exercise. I feel soooo much better, but it's hard when you get busy/stressed/preoccupied. Your gym sounds heavenly...mine just has a lot of exercise equipment in it.

Glad to hear things are looking up relatively. I loved my CSA last year, but two pieces of advice. Sign up early. Really early as they close out quickly. I think I signed up in Feb/March and they were full within a few weeks.

Second, do some research on pulling together receipes featuring veggies ahead of time. I got a bit overwhelmed with so much fresh produce. Eating it raw and in a simple method was great at first, but I felt underprepared. Maybe this year we can swap some receipes too. It all depends on what goodies you get.

Sounds like your life is getting back on track! I am glad Aaron is feeling better and you guys got to talk. What is the Couch to 5K podcast? Sounds like something I need! I am going to the gym for the 3rd day in a row, we shall see how long it lasts...
Good plan on the cooking and freezing healthy food. I need to start doing something like that!
