Love it.

Ok - I freaking love the commentathon. I've never felt so RIGHT about something as when 20something people agree with me!

I did go to yoga last night (I was admittedly nervous) and Dan didn't say anything, and the owner actually took class with us. I don't know what she said - but he was back to his 'old self' - still a task master, but not nasty. I was happy. And I had a GREAT class.

A bunch of you asked what I thought about yoga and how it helps with stress levels. I really like the 'hot' yogas - Baron Baptiste and Bikram. They are also the more vigorous types of yoga (power yoga - some people call them?). And also - I'm a 'type A' person - I really don't do well in the 'relax and breathe' type class. For me, being in a room with 50% humidity and 110 degrees and then doing difficult yoga postures is an awesome way for me to be forced to take my mind off of any other crap I have going on. Since I've to going to yoga (4 times a week, starting in March) I've lost 20 pounds and have seen a noticeable change in my body shape and stress level (well on the stress level part - not so much last week, but in general). Also - I have been sleeping really well. For a while there - I was staying up all night thinking about stupid stuff... now I'm so wiped out, I just fall asleep (and stay asleep) all night!

I think that there is a yoga out there for everyone. Maybe power yoga isn't for you - but try the other kinds also! And - when you are treating your body so well with exercise, it's hard to eat like crap (another benefit). My friends who have gone onto have babies say that the yoga breathing really helped them through labor too.

I appear to be slowly coming out of my funk. I have been noticing that I still have ECM - so I'm starting to stress that I pegged my O date wrong - but then I let it go. What am I going to do about it if I did? Aaron is in Las Vegas!!

Off to leave a bunch of comments.... and thanks to everyone who left me comments yesterday!

I am so glad that yoga went well last night. I have been thinking about taking up yoga, but I am afraid of looking like an ass due to my lack of coordination. I am glad that you stood up for yourself with Dan. It sounds like it needed to happen.

I am also Type A but have learned to love yoga that is much slower and gentler than power yoga, which I didn't really like at all. Yin postures are fantastic! They really help to loosen the muscles and tendons and help with breathing and relaxation. My favorite class uses slow flow (which involves sun salutations and such) and also yin postures. I can see how yoga can help with labor.

It's great that you have kept your commitment to 4 times per week. That's impressive!!

I'm more of a relax-and-let-your-mind-go kind of yoga girl. I try to take a class on Friday afternoons to clear my mind for the weekend, and I can tell the difference when I miss it!

I'm glad you are feeling better and thanks for sharing what yoga does for you. I have a very gentle yoga dvd that I do here at home, and I really enjoy it. Considering that I live in Arizona, where it has been 110 for the past week, and will be for the foreseeable weeks, I do all I can to avoid being hot!

I've always wanted to try yoga but never have. If it will help me sleep though, maybe I should give it a shot.

The commentathon is great isnt it....I have found so many new blogs. Also I am going to have to check out that type of yoga. I am also "type A" and could definitely stand to lose the 20lbs I have gained on all these fertility drugs :)

Thanks for commenting on my blog! I even nipped over and looked at your knitting blog, because I knit too. Very cool.

Do you know, I've never ever done yoga. I wonder...

I'm glad the yoga teacher "relaxed" a little. I'm also really into this Commentathon!

I'm glad you had a good yoga class after speaking up about the instructor. I'm impressed at the weight loss -- I may need to try yoga too.

I've been considering yoga. I'm nervous about it cause I'm a fat girl with no balance, but still..
I was going to go last week but my ovaries hurt so badly on Thursday night that it literally hurt to bend to wash my hands at the sink. Maybe next week.
And YAY for the commentathon. Validation ROCKS!

All right... you have convinced me! I like yoga, but have been using a DVD (power yoga) that I love off and on for a few years. But it is VERY easy for me to choose to sit in front of the tv instead of go in the other room and do yoga. SOOOOO, as a result of your yoga posts... I have committed to go to a few yoga classes a wk at my gym (and forget how horrid I will look through the classroom glass). I KNOW I will feel better. I just needed a kick in the butt.

So thanks!!!

I so wish I could do yoga. I've tried it several times, but always found it frustrating. You see, I have SUCH weak upper arm strength, that I found I couldn't really hold the poses long enough to really get better. And, the teachers would always say, "hold this pose for three breaths..." then get distracted and we'd be hanging out there for much longer. Which would just stress me out. And I'm guessing that's exactly the opposite reaction you want in yoga, no? :-)

man, I'm SERIOUSLY type-A, huh?

I couldn't agree more about the commentation -- it rocks! (Yes I am a child of the 80s.)

Interesting to read your post about Yoga. I've been trying to get my butt to the gym (AT WORK, IN MY BUILDING) for one of the yoga classes because I'm convinced it would be good for me. But I seem to have a major problem with the gym, because after many months I still have yet to attend a class. (Can you say lazy?) Perhaps your post will be the thing to get my ass downstairs.

I've got my fingers crossed that you got your O date just right. Good luck!

Wow, yoga sounds great. I have been thinking about giving it a try and now I am definitely going to look into a class in my area.

I'm in awe of your dedication to Bikram's. Thanks for the tip on Baron Baptiste -- first time I've heard of it.

We can have an online pub (The Lushary) -- why not an online yoga studio with you leading us through poses?

Downward Dog, everyone!

Yeah, yoga's not supposed to make you cry. That's an affront to the Universe, if you ask me. ;)

I miss taking yoga. I would love to do it again, and I would, except there's this thing... what's it called? Money? Yeah, they want that and I don't have it to give them.

Maybe I should start selling cat-hair sweaters to make my yoga money.

I'm sooooo inspired. I used to do Bikram a few years back but then got totally lazy. Since I obviously need a way to unwind I am going to try to get my ass packing back to Bikram (I've even seen a studio a few blocks from my office).

Thanks for the nudge!
